HOD’s Message

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SOET, DRIEMS University. It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I invite you to explore our department, where tradition meets innovation and excellence in engineering education. Mechanical Engineering is a discipline that has been at the core of technological advancement for centuries, driving progress in industries ranging from automotive and aerospace to energy and manufacturing. At SOET, DRIEMS University, our department is dedicated to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to excel in this dynamic and diverse field. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to provide a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles while offering opportunities to specialize in cutting-edge areas such as robotics, renewable energy, materials science, and advanced manufacturing. We place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, with state-of-the-art laboratories, industry-standard software, and real-world projects that allow our students to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Our faculty members are passionate educators and accomplished researchers who bring a wealth of expertise to the classroom. They are committed to mentoring students, fostering a culture of inquiry, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible through innovative research.

About

Keeping view the paradigm of shift in the current scenario, the Department of Mechanical Engineering adopts the state-ofart technology for enriching education and research and imbibes the work culture in mind of the students. It has adorned faculty members with high morale which envisages all round development of the students. The 450 alumni, till date all are highly placed in Govt. and Non-Govt. organizations such as Tata Consultancy services, Infosys, cognizant, Toyota, Triveni turbines, Tech Mahindra, Amazon etc. Many more are pursuing their M.Tech & PhD in reputed institutes like IITs, NITs etc. The Department regularly conducts invited expert talks, seminars, workshops and conferences to render exposure to the aspirants. Short term courses on solar radiation as a non-conventional energy resource, robotics, Mechatronics are also conducted regularly to increase the employability. Sophisticated Laboratories on Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machines, Material Testing, Automobile, I.C Engine, Heat Transfer, Heat Powwer, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Mechanical Measurement, Numerical Control and Solid works, FMS, and Robotics, Workshop Practice that provide a sound base for research and academic activities.

M1:To provide a rigorous and comprehensive education in Mechanical Engineering, fostering critical thinking, and hands-on skills to prepare students for successful careers and advanced studies.

M2:To motivate, educate and prepare the students on fundamental and technical skills through effective teaching learning methodologies to excel in the field of research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
