Important Dates

Exemption from University Written Test

Candidates who have qualified in GATE, NET, or GPAT are exempted from the university written test.

Candidates not qualified in the above exams must appear for the University Written Test.

University Written Test Pattern

The test consists of two papers, each carrying 35 marks:

• Paper 1: Research Methodology
• Paper 2: Subject-Specific (Based on branch)

• Indexing databases: Web of Science, Scopus, etc.
• Citation databases
• Research metrics: h-index, g-index, i10-index, altmetric
• Journal metrics: Impact factor (JCR), SNIP, SJR, IPP, CiteScore

Module II: Intellectual Property

• Nature of Intellectual Property: Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Copyright
• Patenting and development process
• International cooperation in IP
• Procedure for patent grants, Geographical Indications

Module III: Research Ethics

• Philosophy, nature, and scope of research ethics
• Ethics in scientific research
• Intellectual honesty and integrity
• Scientific misconduct: Falsification, Fabrication, and Plagiarism (FFP)

Module IV: Publication Ethics

• Importance of publication ethics
• Conflict of interest, authorship, contributor ship
• Publication misconduct and violations
• Predatory journals and publishers

Paper 2: Subject-Specific Syllabus

• Engineering: As per GATE syllabus
• Management & Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics): As per NET syllabus
• Pharmacy: As per GPAT syllabus
